During a meeting of the minds with a couple of our clients and friends, we discussed who and what inspired us, and an organization called Pencil + Paper Creative Club popped up! This organization, started by style maven Gen Sohr, is a directory of creatives that share skills, resources, and creative ideas. We thought- why couldn't we bring resources for fellow creatives to Central Florida? WE all need it, so there must be others who do, too!
So, we started brainstorming and found ways to use each of our skills and talents to pull together an event in Tessa's backyard. Tessa prepared some AMAZING food and opened up her gorgeous home, Kara and I designed the invitations (and eventually the branding), and Lise pulled together some beautiful pieces from her store to create a fun and open setting for talented and creative women alike to eat, drink and connect.
There were about 15 gals there, ranging in different ages, with all different kinds of businesses. We had everything from photography to fashion, marketing to cookie decorating! The one thing we kept hearing over and over again was "I really don't know what I'm doing...but I'm doing it!." We were all able to be vulnerable enough to say that while supporting each other's bravery and courage to start something new.
As women in the business world, we’ve all seen firsthand how important it is to support women-owned businesses and both be inspired by and inspire other women. We are excited to see what the future holds for this incredible group of strong, creative women!
The Gathering is a group of entrepreneurial women dedicated to connecting, creating, and collaborating together in the Winter Park/Orlando area. Kara and Morgan have teamed up with Lise Davis of Ayers-Davis Interiors and The Hunt Winter Park as well as Tessa McAuliff of Tessa's Table to create space for women to come together to share their adventures in business, with a focus on supporting each other with our complementary skills and talents.
